Running the editorial direction, social media accounts, and overseeing all design and development since 2013.
I started The Online Rule alongside a friend in December 2013. We had both studied journalism at university and were now working in marketing, and wanted to combine those passions with a love of sport. The idea and starting points for the site came from his MA Public Relations course.
The brief for the site was to have something simple that championed best practice in the sports marketing industry.
Originally built in WordPress, I moved to Ghost towards the end of 2020.
The site has gone from strength to strength over the years. The following on Twitter has grown steadily, and it has introduced me to sports marketing people from all over the world.
I have appeared on podcasts talking about the topics I cover online, as well as being invited to give lectures at universities.
I continue to write articles and run the social media accounts, and have recently started commissioning freelance writers to add new voices to the mix and ensure there is a steady flow of content.
