Bringing industry experience into higher education

One of the biggest challenges facing marketing education is ensuring learning remains relevant to a rapidly changing profession.

Students need a strong understanding of marketing theory, but they also need to understand how those ideas apply in practice. Employers increasingly expect graduates to arrive with both knowledge and the ability to apply it.

My career has always sat between these two worlds.

Alongside teaching and assessment work, I have spent more than 20 years working within marketing. This allows me to bring current examples, practical experience and industry context into higher education settings.

How I can help

Universities often require specialist support for module delivery, guest lectures, curriculum reviews, assessment and moderation.

I have experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, designing learning materials and assessments, and contributing to programme development.

Whether the requirement is short-term teaching support, curriculum review work or assessment expertise, I can help programmes remain both academically rigorous and professionally relevant.

Experience

I have taught at the University of Sunderland and continue to maintain links with higher education alongside my work with training providers, awarding organisations and professional learning programmes.

My teaching experience spans undergraduate, postgraduate and professional education.
